Topic Models Applied To Online
Google Tech Talk August 11, 2010 ABSTRACT Presented by Alice Oh. Probabilistic topic models are useful for uncovering the underlying semantic structure of a collection of documents. We take a simple and widely used topic model, the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA, Blei et al. 2003) and extend it in two ways. First, we construct topic chains to understand the dynamic semantic structure of an online news corpus, and second, we develop a unification model of sentiment and aspect to discover the detailed semantics of user generated reviews. For the topic chains research, we present a framework for comparing and clustering the topics discovered by LDA. We discuss how to interpret the resulting topic chains to understand the general topic trends, temporary issues, and the focus shifts within the topic chains. We applied the topic chains framework to 9 months of online news and present the results. For the aspect-sentiment unification model (ASUM) research, we base our model on an observation that users evaluate various aspects of a product in a review, such as the lens of the camera or the LCD display of a laptop, and each sentence usually represents one aspect and a corresponding sentiment toward that aspect. So we propose a sentence-LDA (SLDA) with a constraint that all words in a single sentence are generated from one aspect. Then we extend SLDA to Aspect and Sentiment Unification Model (ASUM) to jointly discover pairs of {aspect, sentiment} which we call senti-aspects. We …

Ruling In Actos Mdl Side

The Consumer Justice Foundation, a for-profit corporation whose team of professional consumer advocates provide free online educational resources regarding the potential dangers of certain prescription medications, hereby alerts the public of a recent ruling in the existing Actos MDL side effects lawsuit that would allow additional plaintiffs to join this action at a faster rate.
Specifically, the ruling was made by United States District Judge Rebecca Doherty, who is overseeing the Actos MDL side effects lawsuit known officially as In Re: Actos Products Liability Litigation, MDL 2299, U.S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana (Lafayette). Judge Doherty issued a ruling known as a direct-filing order for any new claims. This ruling will allow anyone filing an Actos side effects lawsuit to do so directly to the MDL without first having to file a case in local court and waiting for it to be transferred to the federal court by judicial order.
Signing this order will expedite future Actos side effects lawsuits as it will eliminate a procedural step that was to this point required of anyone who felt that he or she had suffered from Actos side effects as a result of using this diabetes medication and who wanted to file a legal action in response. To date, more than 10,000 individual Actos side effects actions have been filed.
Actos is a prescription medication that is manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceutical and it has been the target of Actos side effects lawsuits because of alleged complications that developed in patients who had used this medication. Specifically, the plaintiffs in this ongoing Actos MDL lawsuit allege that they have suffered Actos side effects that include bladder cancer and heart problems.

uper Bowl XLV will be the 45th annual edition of the Super Bowl in American football, and the 41st annual championship game of the modern-era National Football League (NFL). The game, to be played on February 6, 2011, will pit the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers against the NFC champion Green Bay Packers to decide the NFL champion for the 2010 season. The game will be held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the first time that the Super Bowl will be held in the Dallas – Fort Worth area; and the third time it will be held in Texas (Houston was the host city to Super Bowls VIII and XXXVIII).
This will be the eighth appearance in the Super Bowl for the Steelers (who hold the record with 6 Super Bowl wins) and the fifth for the Packers (who hold the record with 12 overall NFL titles, including 3 Super Bowl wins and 9 league titles prior to the Super Bowl-era). The Packers are three point favorites, making this the first Super Bowl the Steelers were underdogs in since Super Bowl XXX.
